Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee develops one-to-one mentoring relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Our programs shape children’s futures, help them achieve their full potential and achieve important outcomes including educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, and social/emotional development. Our We do this by matching our volunteer mentors with the youth enrolled in our program based on shared interests and similar personality traits. Our mentoring program is proven by independent research to help children who face adversity succeed in and out of school. Big Brothers Big Sisters offer four unique mentoring programs, each tailored to serve different kids in need, and fit different mentor’s schedules and availability.

As a volunteer mentor, the four programs you can choose from are Community-based Mentoring, mentor 2.0, School-based mentoring, and Sports Buddies. In our community-based program, volunteers (Bigs) meet with their mentee (Little) two-four times a month and do fun and educational outings at places in the community like the library or park. Our mentor2.0 program serves high school-students and communicates weekly online and monthly in-person. School-based Mentoring is where a Big meets weekly with an elementary student at their school for homework assistance and planned activities. Lastly, our Sports Buddies program meets monthly for group activities focused on sports and recreation. We need volunteers like you! Our professional, trained staff will be with you every step of the way.
